Shoes we wear to the airport
Jetting off on your hols? Want to know what this year’s well groomed passenger is wearing to the airport and what shoes we like to travel in?
A trip to the airport gives us the chance to sit and eye up what the well–dressed traveler is wearing on their feet! Surprisingly we Brits are somewhat sensible! A first glance reveals a fifty fifty split between flat shoes and trainers, with only a handful of brave ladies wearing high heels.
Settle down with a cappuccino and have good look at the shoes of the passersby. It’s evident that seasoned travelers wear comfortable shoes. Sandals, wedges and flats are the most common for ladies. Birkenstocks, Leather Shoes or Ecco sandals are the principle choice of the non businessmen.
Surprisingly, although on course for exotic locations, ladies shoes are in muted colours including shades of browns and naturals with only a few ladies choosing to wear bright and bold. Thongs, Birkenstocks and Crocs are abundant in tans, pinks and white. Comfort seems to be the rule of the day with all thought of fashion ignored with a manic check of passports, plastic bags and overflowing hand luggage. The majority of Womens Shoes are new. If we’re going to be comfortable we know how to do it in style!
You can spot at least two kinds of Casual male traveler. The jeans and T shirt and Trainers guy who is obviously looking forward to a fortnight of sun, sand and sangria and the casually dressed guy wearing a pair of loafers who’s spent a fortune trying to look nonchalant as if he didn’t care! What do they both have in common? They were both wearing comfortable shoes. Sandals, Skechers, Rockports, Ecco or Casual shoes were all flat, soft and well fitting. There wasn’t an old smelly trainer in sight!
A must have travelling tip? Wear shoes you can wear comfortably all day. You never know how long it will be until you can take them off. And if you don’t suffer from smelly feet slip you can always slip your shoes off while you’re on the plane!
