Converse Shoes from Nike
Converse shoes are a well known brand of trainers. The company was started in 1908. Some people will be surprised to learn that Converse Shoes were sold to Nike Shoes in 2003. Converse started out making galoshes, or wellington boots. The problem they had was that people didn’t want to wear galoshes in the spring and summer months so the brought out a pair of canvas Boots that people wanted to wear all year. They were rubber soled, comfortable and soon were being worn by athletes and ball players. Converse called this shoe the All Star shoe. A famous all star basketball player, Chuck Taylor started wearing the All Star back in 1917. Chuck Taylor was sponsored in 1923 and put his name to the All Star and the rest they say is history, the basic converse shoe has changed little over the past eighty years.
Converse shoes are worn by the rich and famous and those of us not that famous. Converse shoes have stood the test of time; there are not many shoes that your great grandparents thought were good, your parents thought were hip and today’s youth class as cool.
Since Nike Shoes took over Converse, not much has changed with the Chuck Taylor All Star boot. What has happened is that Converse has brought out the same style but with a graphic emblazed range, lots of bright different colours as well as the traditional denim blue. The boot is also now available as a shoe again available in many different colours.
The driving force in the shoe industry is fashion but at Converse shoes they have let fashion take a passenger seat, yes Converse have extended their range but not in designing new styles but in art design, fashionable colours to adorn what has proved a best seller for nearly a century.
