Buying new shoes - considerations to take into account

Shoes are great, especially shoes that are comfortable and fit like a glove.
Old worn shoes my feel comfortable but distressed shoes are not the same as distressed furniture, over time they will have stretched, treads will have worn away and the shoes will look old.

If a shoe is worn and the tread is none existent then apart from anything else they will be dangerous. Without treads walking on a damp or wet pavements would be like walking on ice. If the shoes have stretched they won’t support your feet the way they were meant to, you could go over on your ankle and at the very least sprain it.

So although your old shoes may seem like a best friend they are not. New shoes on the other hand have all the benefits and none of the draw backs.

The first thing to consider when buying a new pair of shoes is the style. Not all styles will suit you. Not all styles will be appropriate. Some shoes are designed for specific purposes such as golf shoes. Some running shoes on the other hand are designed for running but can also be used as a general training shoe.

Another consideration is height so heels will be important. There are many styles of heels to consider. The standard measure for heel heights are Standard = one inch, medium heel = two inch and high heel = three inches. As well as height there are varying styles of heel such as a Continental which has a curved back and straight front, a Cuban which is tapered at the bottom and no curvature, Wedge  which can be of any height and as wide as the shoe and follows the shoes shape from heel to toe .

One should always look at what the shoes are made from. Shoes can be made from animal skins that are turned into leathers or from man made materials to imitate leather. Man made materials, unless of the fabric sort, don’t usually allow the feet to breathe where as leather does.

Have your feet professionally measured. You need to know what size shoes will fit you. If you are a size seven be prepared, not all shoe size seven shoes will fit you. When buying shoes you need to check that they fit properly. If they fit properly they will be comfortable to wear, no blisters or bunions. If you have chosen the right heel and style for the activity, you will have a very comfortable, safe and good looking pair of shoes.
