Fancy Dress Accessories
Welcome to our fancy dress accessories pages. If you’re looking for something to finish off your fancy dress costume, you’ve come to the right place.
We love costumes and dress up, but we know that it’s the final accessories that can make your costume outstanding. So we’ve put together some of our favourite accessories for you to check out.
Wigs – A wig is probably the best fancy dress accessory you can invest in. We’ve known people walk away with a prize for the best fancy dress, just by wearing their normal clothes and a great wig. Check out the ladies, men’s or children’s wigs.
Ladies wigs
• Cher - Ladies can dress as Cher by wearing a long tight fitting black dress and a black Cher wig.
• Country singer - If you have a limited budget, wear a pair of jeans, check shirt, buy a long blonde wig and go as a country singer.
• Sexy schoolgirl - Wear a blonde or brunette plaited wig, with a short skirt, white shirt and loose tie, for a sexy schoolgirl costume. Finish the costume off with a pair of white knee high socks.
Men’s wigs
• Punks –Tear a few holes in a black or white shirt, wear a pair of jeans with a few safety pins attached, and wear a punk wig. Finish it off with some heavy black eye make up.
• Rock star - Try wearing a rock star wig, teamed with a leather jacket and narrow legged jeans, add some bold eye make up for the 70’s glam rock look. Or, try wearing a rainbow Afro 80’s or 70’s wig with an old pair of flares and bright shirt or top.
Masks – If you’re going to get into character, you’ll need a mask. There are simple eye masks Zorro style, half face masks, or full masks that cover your entire face.
Choose from clowns, mad doctors, burglars, Star Wars’ Chewbacca, Darth Maul, Darth Vader or a Stormtrooper.
For the men there’s a Sean Connery mask, James Bond style - wear it with a tux, for a classy costume.
Halloween and horror film face masks include Chucky, Michael Myers, Leatherface, and Freddy Krueger. They are all available as full face masks. You can even get the Donnie Darko rabbit mask.
Hen and Stag – Many people think of wearing pink fluffy banners and sashes for a typical hen night, and it’s true they are a favourite. But if you don’t fancy the fluff, go for fairy wings in black or pink. You can buy a cheap pair of fairy wings, or splash out on some exotic wings with decoration. Hats and bunny ears are great to wear, but if you’re worried about spoiling your hair, go for a tiara and make it part of your hairstyle.
It’s good to ask everyone in your party, what they’d like to wear, and go with the majority.
Nails and gloves – Paint your nails to match your costume. There are some great colours to choose from. Black, purple and white nails look great with a vampire, zombie or ghost Halloween costume. Red, green, silver and gold nails look fabulous with your Christmas outfits. Any psychedelic colour of nails looks great with an 80’s or 70’s costume. The brighter the better for a 70’s glam rock costume, so use pinks, greens and yellows and paint your nails alternate colours.
Fingerless gloves finish off a Madonna style costume, and a pair of black leather gloves finishes off a Zorro costume beautifully.
For a home made Zorro outfit, wear a pair of black trousers and black shirt, teamed with a Zorro style hat and a black eye mask. The black leather gloves are the finishing touch.
Tights and stockings- There are so many gorgeous stockings and tights on offer; you’ll be spoilt for choice. Choose from stockings with lace tops, bows and ribbons, or tights with stripes, spots and flowers.
If you’re wearing a short skirt, invest in a pair of ruffle panties. They come in all colours (our favourites are the black or red pairs) and you’ll find some stripey black and yellow ones for bee costumes.
Fish net tights, white adult knee highs and devil thigh high stockings are ideal to wear with sexy adult costumes.
Kaleidoscope tights and leopard print tights are perfect to go with an 80’s fancy dress costume.
