We’ve been looking at the top fancy dress costumes, and we’ve put together a list of 10 of the most popular outfits. Check them out to give you some inspiration.
Disney – Whether it’s traditional animation or later films with 3D effects, Disney fancy dress costumes are among some of the most popular outfits for adults. Ladies wear sparkling princess dresses and the men look handsome dressed as Prince Charming. Some favour the more diabolic side of Disney and like the villain costumes. Cruella De Ville, Captain Hook and The Beast costumes are prime examples.
Heaven and hell – Devils and angels are two great outfit choices. Ladies sexy devil and fallen angels costumes are popular with the women, and the Grease Teen Angel costume is favoured by the men.
Tarts and vicars/clergy – Popular for student parties and home parties, nuns and vicars are a great choice for all ages. Choose from sexy nuns, Friar Tuck, Priests and Mother Superiors. Nun outfits are not just for the women; vicars’ costumes are worn by the women and tarts’ costumes are worn by the men.

Have a look at the Flash Gordon, He-man and She-Ra, Wolverine, and Wonder woman costumes. They’re bold, bright and come in all sizes including plus size and childrens.
70s and 80s – Adult disco costumes are top in this category. Bold colours, Lycra leggings and white suits are fun to wear and you can top it off with a long hippy style wig and platform shoes.
Halloween – Ghosts, horror characters and devils are some of the most popular fancy dress costumes that are worn for Halloween and for regular fancy dress parties. Halloween costumes are finished off with face make up and some special effect scars and blood prosthetics.
Star Wars – A top choice for adults and children is a Star Wars costume. These outfits range from the first Star Wars characters, from the films released in the 70s, right up to the later films of the noughties. This is a favourite category with children and adults.
Fairy – Last but not least, and a favourite with little girls, ladies and for charity fun runs are fairy costumes. They are easy to wear and will also double up as a Halloween costume.
