Web Design Change
Web design and web development is forever changing. Where as at one time web design was primarily a brochure designed for print converted by a web design company for publication on the web, all images were omitted leaving just a text based message of what the business was offering.
Later the internet changed, web design had to change with the needs and wants of companies that wanted to be at the front of the technology revolution. Where as before most web design companies were techie based software engineers graphic designers and design agencies came on board and included web design as part of their services. Web design programs became available to buy on the high street so that anyone who wanted to could design and launch a website. The only time one needed a technically based web design company was if they needed ecommerce or some other backend operation that your none techie web design company couldn’t provide.
Web design changed again as the explosion of websites on the internet meant that people needed a way to find what they were looking for on the internet. In came Yahoo, Google and a host of other Search Engines to fill this need. Web design had to change because no longer was it sufficient for a company to have a good looking functional web site, it had to be found on by the search engines. Web design had to now accommodate this need. In came the need for search engine optimisation.
The skills that made a web design company great ten years ago, nay two years ago, yesterday, are not the same as what skills are needed today. One of the most common fears is change but change is what makes the world go round and no more so than for web design. As the internet becomes the high street, the knowledge centre, the news centre and the communication hub of the world, web design will change and change and keep on changing.
